Ailina Carona

For State Representative District 57

Our campaign is fighting for policies that improve the quality of life for every Wilson County resident, while ensuring each and every person maintains their individual constitutional rights equally. I seek to bring light to the backroom deals negatively affecting our children’s education and safety. I will work to provide a seat at the table for the marginalized groups in our community. It is time to bring unity, empathy, and transparency back to our government. It is time for real change.

Shining A Light On The Issues.

Education

I believe that every child has the right to affordable, high quality education. Tennessee ranks among bottom ten states in the country for school funding,  without proper funding our teachers are handicapped in providing the best education they possibly can. In Wilson County we love our educators and believe they should be allowed to teach without additional non-educational expectations placed on them. I want our educators to know that they are heard and supported as experienced teachers, so they can focus on the children.

Women/LGBTQ+ Rights

I support bodily autonomy in every way. I believe the government should not be involved in the medical care of any one, including women. Women should be allowed to make choices that will affect their health and future. I will continue to support and fight for any legislation that gives rights back to the individual.

LGBTQ+ rights are a priority for me. For too long this community has been treated unjustly. I am committed to seeing Wilson County as a safe space for LGBTQ+ people. Which includes standing against curriculum control, book banning and teachers being forced to out LGBTQ+ youth. The LGBTQ+ community should not be a political pawn, they should be treated with dignity, respect and equal rights.

Sensible gun Laws

One thing we can all agree on is keeping our loved ones safe. The tragedy on March 27th, 2023 brought the issue of gun violence to our doorstep. We cannot let the fire for change go out. I believe that we can uphold our second amendment rights while still making it safer for our children and community. Which is why I am a strong supporter of the ERPO law and promoting proper gun safety/storage. By enacting these changes we are creating a safer future for our children.
